Artist Statement:
The pictures in this portfolio are “Digital Woodcuts”. They are like wood engravings, only created on the computer… that is a much more forgiving, tool than the gouge and woodblock. Beginning with a pencil and paper (no computer has improved these tools!), I scan my drawings into Photoshop. Next, using other software (Adobe Illustrator and Corel Painter) the picture is ‘cut’ like an engraving applying areas of black and then ‘painting’ over in white to give it the appearance of a genuine woodcut. Using layers, color is added and similarly ‘cut’ away. The final picture can be saved in various formats, depending on how the art will be used.

They are stories about “MYTHLES” which are like Myths, but not quite. And their adventures are played out in “MYTHLEWILD”, which is a wilderness, wild and remote…only to those without dreams.
Fables and myths are favorite sources for my illustrations. Like Peter Pan, I just never broke free of their spell, and thankfully have remained a child at heart. My creations sprang to life from the margins...
