Artist Statement:
Margaretre Gillespie
A portrait artist and a native
Missourian of Kansas City
since 1965. Gillespie has been
married for thirty years, a
mother of three and has eight
grandchildren. Retired from
Hallmark Cards after
thirty-three years of service,
Gillespie is fulfilling her
life long dream in showing
Gods beauty by way of painting
people, nature and still life.
Gillespie attended The Kansas
Art Institute and has studied
portrait art at The Harry
Fredman Studio. Gillespie has
won several nationwide art
competitions, including the
Jack Reardon Convention Center
where she won a cash prize for
a portrait of Muhammad Ali.
