Artist Statement:
My sculptures in Brushed
Aluminum and Neon comes from
a lifelong fascination with
lights and Art Deco style. I
have always had a flair for
the out of the ordinary and
abstract. I have been creating
abstract canvas paintings
since the early 80's. The
abstract works, mostly
splatter style paintings, have
given me an eye for abstract
design, if there's such a
thing. To the average eye it
is just a lot of splattered
paint. To me I could just
always tell if the work needed
just one more splatter of
paint here or there. Miami
Florida's Art Deco District
has long been one of my
favorite places to visit and
has also been an inspiration
for my works. My sculptures
evolved from seeing several in
art shows and desiring to
create works with layers and
shapes. It was not until about
a year later after creating
several sculptures that I ran
across a website that blew me
away, it was the works of the
artist Eric Ehlenberger that
really caught my attention.
His work with neon and brushed
aluminum was stunning. I
immediatly E-mailed him and
asked a billion questions. To
my suprise he returned...
