Artist Statement for Randy Crumbliss

I have always been fascinated in the different kinds of wood the colors, the texture's, and the grain patterns. There are so many uses for wood, so many things we do with wood. Think for a minute where our Civilization would be without wood. We use it for building homes, furniture, fireplaces, decorations etc. So I use wood as my art medium.

I have been working overseas for the past twenty years in the Petroleum Business. I have been lucky enough to meet and privileged to work with some of the finest woodcarver's in the world. I have worked with many woodcarvers from Benin, Congo, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia, Siberia, Thailand, and Vietnam. I have picked up many different techniques & styles from them.

At present I am living in Bali Indonesia. In my opinion, I am now working & learning from some of the finest Woodcarver's in Bali Indonesia. All of my Woodcarving's are one of a kind. I take the extra time required to pick beautiful pieces of wood. Then after finishing the woodcarving I take a lot of time to Oil and polish the wood to prevent them from cracking in the future. They will be Treasured gifts that can be handed down to future generations. Wood Carving is fast becoming a Lost Art form.
