Artist Statement:
My paintings reflect my unique observations of all that I see and my participation in life. I strive to capture the spirit and essence – the metaphysical – as well as the physical aspects of the image. This is a conscious desire to share my visions of the world bathed in color and light with the viewers of my paintings, hopefully bringing incredible brightness to their everyday viewing and acknowledgement of the beauty that surrounds us.
Paintings are created and composed mostly in my mind from thoughts and ideas that are triggered by scenes and objects that I find in life. Since I have become so comfortable and in-tune with the medium of watercolor, in most cases I am able to go from the composition and techniques that I have formalized in my heart and mind directly to the watercolor paper. This direct approach allows me to move forward with my painting without the necessity of creating preliminary composition sketches in most cases, since I have already spent many hours abstractly in preparation on how I would like the painting to come together.
