Artist Statement:
Jeff Hall’s affection for the art of modern fantasy illustrators along with his interest in architecture and lost civilizations, is realized
In his architectural figure series. The brick armature is revealed exposing the craftsmanship of a culture that built figurative monuments. You also see through this Jeff’s own connection with his background as a craftsmen engineer. The layers breaking away abstracts the figure and a host of interesting dynamics come into play… Attention to beauty lost is heightened. The juxtaposition between hard and soft is like the layers of the human personality or character. Inner strength is stronger than flesh and bone.
Jeff combines great sensitivity skills with years of technical craftsman experience “When I work in different materials I bring to it experience from the last medium challenge. Having experience with a wide variety of materials allows me to create with purpose.”
“I like to focus on monumental and god like figures that are not bound by the laws of physics. A strong pose represents humanity at its best. I strive to look deeper at capturing the expression between mind and body in an attempt to transcend the medium by turning ceramic, stone or metal into flesh. ...
