Artist Statement:
The aim of the work is to create windows that allow viewers to contemplate the body as a place. Where not only involuntary processes like digestion, respiration and blood flow continuously happens, but also the gathering of their very own imaginative creations. There is an underlying sense of connectivity between the viewer and the work by associating these organic representations to themselves and their internal body structure. Ultimately, there is no specific representation of organs, muscles or veins in the pieces. However, it is by viewer interaction that the work gains it’s meaning and living quality. These combined etchings are intended to be a representation of the internal experience of a human being making use of imagination as the main aiding tool.
This body of work is still in development as I encounter new solutions from which to approach the idea of the body as an internal space without relying on factual scientific research or accurate medical illustrations. ...
