Artist Statement:
I live in New Zealand and have
carved and sculpted for over
20yrs,carving bone and
ivories,mainly NZ wild
ivory(pig tusk)whale bone and
whale teeth.I use only hand
tools,small chisels,scapers
and needle files.I can carve
just about anything but have a
natural bent towards realistic
representation.I carve hunters
trophys,horn,tusk,teeth,gun
stcks and knife handles,or for
wearing or ornamental
display.Carving with bone led
on to sculpting in
stone.Finding a natural
ability to create a wide range
of forms in 3D or 2D relief
pictures in stone.I work with
Pam Griffin/artist/partner for
many designs and commission
work.I can create
realism,traditional,mythical
or fantasy depending on the
design.My work can be viewed
at www.artstonebone.co.nz I
produce one off unique
headstones,sculptures for
home,garden,corporate artworks
or unique wearable artworks in
bone or ivories.
