Artist Statement:
International Print Triennial &<8211; Kraków 2009
We would like to inform that the last part of preparation to International Print Triennial Kraków 2009 starts in this days. It becomes the great festival of contemporary Graphic Arts in Europe, owing to increasing number of cultural instututions in Poland and world that cooperate with us. Over 20 institutions, among them: Museums, Academies of Fine Arts, Art Centres and Galleries joined with their exhibitions to programme of edition of MTG &<8211; Kraków 2009.
In next information we will announce our schedule of events. We still continue cooperation with Austrian Print Triennial in Vienna and German Print Triennial in Oldenburg.
There will be 2 parts of selection. The first one will be digital, the second &<8211; on original prints. Both of them will be lead by independent jury from Kraków, Vienna and Oldenburg.
We would like to invite artists to register on our website www.triennial.cracow.pl &<8211; everyone will be given a participation form.

The first exhibitions of International Print Triennial &<8211; Krakow 2009
35 institutions of culture and galleries announced their participation in International Print Triennial &<8211; Krakow 2009. Artist from 52 countries of the whole world send their works for the competition. The exhibitions included in programme of MTG &<8211; Krakow 2009 will be held in September and October. They will be shown in museums and galleries of Krakow, Katowice, Torun, Bielsko-Biala, Warsaw, Bialystok, Zielona Gora.
Now, we would like to invite for the first expositions: prints of Laureates of Chieri Triennial in the Zamek Ksiaz Gallery. Another one is the exhibition of well known Slovak artist, Vladimķr Ga¾ovič, on 70. Anniversary of his birth, in Panorama Gallery of Dwor Tomaszowice.
The organizer of MTG &<8211; Krakow 2009 is Society of International Print Triennial &<8211; Krakow.
The first part of selection of prints is finished. This selection was a digital one. The Jury had to choose from a few thousands of prints. The selected digital icons of prints were send to Triennial&<8217;s Partners, who have their own jury. Now, the choosen artists send the original graphic prints.
The members of the Jury of the second part of competition are art critics, curators, artists from Poland and abroad, among them: Richard Noyce (art critic), prof. Jan Pamu³a (artist, professor on Academy of Fine Arts, Krakow), Katarzyna Wojtyga (general curator MTG &<8211; Krakow 2009). The names of Laureates will be announced on September 16, during the ceremony in National Museum in Krakow. This same day will be opened the Main exhibition in Bunkier Sztuki Gallery in Krakow. It lasts till October, 10.
MTG &<8211; Krakow 2009 cooperates with international Partners: International Print Triennial Wien 2010, International Print Triennial Oldenburg 2010, International Museum of Arts in Taiwan, Triennial Internazionale d&<8217;Incisione Citta di Chieri, International Festival of Contemporary Print Cuenca, Spain. Our Polish Partner is Polish Print Triennial in Katowice.
International Print Triennial &<8211; Krakow 2009 is the most prestigious event of Graphic Art in Poland and Europe. For over 30 years it was a biennial. The first time it was organized in 1960 as Polish Print Biennial in Krakow, and from 1966 it become an international competition, one of the greatest in the world. From 1989 the rules were changed, competition and exhibitions are organized in thee years duration. The Main Competition Exhibition is accompanied by more and more shows of graphic arts, disscussions, meetings with artists.
This year, in the set of accompanied exhibitions of MTG we can see the historical exhibitions of works of the well known Krakow&<8217;s artists, exhibition of prints from Polish Museum in USA, exhibition of Hungarian and Polish prints from 20. and 30. of XX century. The catalogues with the artists&<8217; biography, and well described works are prepared. In the set of exhibitions will be shown motion graphic, digital graphic that depict the language of our contemporary times.
