Artist Statement:
These pieces are from a new
series of work that deals with
the idea of multiple
realities. I decided to create
this series because of the
desire to examine how humans
deal with paranormal believes
and situations in the 21st
century.
To create these drawings, I
referenced various memories,
which then brought about a
series of questions regarding
popular religious beliefs
concerning the phenomena of
apparitions. I began writing
my thoughts on this matter,
working more like a writer
than a painter. I used my
notes as conceptual material
(they were heavily influenced
by quantum theory,
multi-dimensional realities,
and my fascination with
holograms). I then began to
draw my notions on the matter.
For these series I wanted to
use colors that convey a
sensation of fantasy,
therefore I decided to use
bright bold colors. I am
particularly interested in the
areas of the collective
subconscious, mental
hallucinations, and mass
delusion; and because of this,
I decided to create a body of
work that would examine the
effects of the phenomena on
the human condition.
