Artist Statement:
I believe we all have an inherent need to create. For some it soothes us, for others it connects us to our spiritual side. For me it does this and more. It's something you feel in your bones, a desire, an addiction, and a release. My pottery habit has been like therapy to me. It allows the "child" to come out and express herself.
Most of my work is wheel-thrown using a white earthenware clay body, oxidation fired to cone 05/06. I enjoy the vivid colors achieved by using the majolica technique of overglaze colors on top of a white glaze base. And I like becoming absorbed in brush-work designs that require an eye for fine detail.
