I have been involved in the exploration of printmaking without the use of mechanical press for the past 10 years.
This exploration has involved the experimentation of materials and techniques used and the use of body weight to create the printed image.
In short, my prints are created by the use of hand pressure and foot pressure. I literally walk on my prints to obtain the images. To obtain different markings within my prints I use different soled shoes.
All of my prints are very limited editions, but each print is treated as an individual identity and therefore no two prints from the same edition are ever the same.
In fact a great deal of care is taken to give each print an individual identity.
Subjects used are always drawn from experiences of life, nature and family. I respond to the world around me, firstly recording what I see as studies and then by playing with the images I record, by the use of rotations (in the case of plants)
Other designs are produced by creating comical situations that reflect social comments through the use of birds as subjects.
