Artist Statement:
I work to communicate ideas of preservation, decay and the effects of time on memory, thought and physical space. Some of the mediums I use are beeswax, eggshells, beads, leather, rawhide and pigments. I think of encaustic (using bee's wax)as a method that entombs objects. I paint on animal skin hides, prepared by by me by cleaning, beating and scraping them to a soft white, parchment like surface. During the creation of the art, the subjects of my work are preserved for a time, suspended at a certain point of development or decay as a snapshot of thought in a life long process....
