Artist Statement:
I use my artwork as my personal therapy, my voice, and my tool for social change. In creating a work of art I'm able to flush out my anger and frustration, work out my inner problems, and get on with a healthy life. Art is also my voice. I discover and express my ideas and explore and explain my view of the world through my art. I use art as a tool for social change by challenging and inspiring people to think. If they can associate with my message perhaps knowing a like mind is out there will help them on their life’s journey. If they hate it, even better. I hope they critically tear it to shreds. Then maybe they can take that critical perspective and focus it on the world around them, and began seeing things as they really are rather than as they are designed to be presented.
A common theme in all of my work is social criticism. My styles, however, range from pink fluffy surrealism, to tongue-in-cheek consumerism, to dark cynicism. My media is usually mixed, acrylic paint, found objects, digital photo montage, steel or wood sculptures, or cloth and fashion...
