Artist Statement:
About my plastic work
The underlying idea behind my paintures is to try and make the observer pause for reflection about a perennial theme, the bipolarisation of Chaos and Cosmos, seeking to explore the connotations between formal aspects in such a way that the latter are viewed as catalysts for dialogue between creator and work.
With a view to taking an objective look at the artistic object in the light of a standard conceptual framework, formal aspects with opposing characteristics are set against each other in the same work, resulting in the inevitable tension suggested between two different dimensions corresponding to two equally diverse constituent levels. Hence, we are immediately met with a markedly chaotic, organic surface, co-ordinating and contrasting with geometrical meanings, seeking to reinforce a type of structure based on abstract relationships where the flat shape is viewed not as a representative criterion but as the direct imposition of features connected with the ordering and symbolising of space and basic values.
