Varda Carmeli (born in Israel, 1948) is a multidisciplinary artist (painting, installation and photography). Since 2004 she has been focusing on photographic projects, combining subjective documentary, street snapshot and innovative photography.
Varda Carmeli dedicated herself to art in 1989, after carrying out an International Marketing business as well as Start-up projects. She has lived for several years in South America, Central America and Spain.
Varda has specialized in photography and printing at the Tel-Aviv Art Museum and at the "Midrasha" Academy of Art. She has had numerous painting and photography exhibitions in galleries and Museums in Israel and around the world and her works can be found in collections both locally and abroad.
Among other things, she created a setting for the musical "in de 30" (Costumes by Giorgio Armani) in Holland; her art work is part of the collection of the Musée de la Poste, Paris, France; and she has received a prize from the President of Italy.
In 2004 Varda Carmeli took part at the International Peace Action at the "East Side Gallery", Berlin, with the German artist Gunther Schaefer.
In 2007 Varda Carmeli opened Studio 20 in Old Jaffa, Israel, which serves as a photography studio as well as a gallery hosting artists engaged in contemporary photography.
