Artist Statement:
My paintings capture the emotions transmitted by organic forms, which permanently live among us. I initiate change in my primary sketch, photographs and collages by singling out the forms until I have a scene that reveals its meaning.
The painting process begins by focusing on the light which is the first connection point between the audience and the work. I then connect two tones which have been chosen to contrast the light.
Sensuality and eroticism are revealed through form magnification and color saturation.
The huge scale of my work is another resource I use to increase the power of the expression.
I want to present to the spectator elements of emotion that allow them to discover their own worlds.
My work is influenced by Baroque artists for their harsh light and dark shadows (chiaroscuro), Impressionist, Postimpressionist and Fauvism for their visual effects of
light and vigorous brushstrokes, Expressionists for their vibrant expression of emotions, powers of colors, line and form and the Surrealists for the liberation of the unconscious, creating a new reality.
My work is a conjunction of all these artistic movements with the firm intention to create something original from my own experience.
