In Rajasthan, India, where my roots are, is a mix of vibrant colours and patterns within them; which is a combination of qualities, acts, tendencies, etc., forming a consistent or characteristic plan. Looking at these patterns started with use of camera and then computer and all forms of tech gadgets (scanners, printers, and digital cameras). This gives me sense of creation and a deep perspective within the lives of people I see. The imagery I capture, invites me again and again to go back and confine more, as I believe every time there is a new story out there.
It all started with a digital assignment, which inspired me to utilize the medium and thus came the inspiration to further explore and create. The favourite thing about digital art is the endless possibilities of creation (many times with small surprises), which provide blueprint for new ideas. It’s like a pot taking shape on a potter’s wheel, a small pressure and the shape starts changing; “Idea from an Idea”, which gives new meaning to the original/existing image. Every image has a story (long or short). Transforming this story in a new episode is what I like, giving a new meaning, sometimes through creation of illusions which are fascinating.
My artwork originates from basic imagery, which I come across; it is in form of festivals, my friends & family, objects I collect, places I see. The imagery varies in colour, form and texture from time to time. But it has an underlying pattern which gives a new meaning to every reflection of it when I see it through my eyes. I utilise these images to create digital artwork which has its own new pattern and a story to tell.
I begin my art work by correlating the image in context with other images and start it piece by piece or rather pixel by pixel and give time for the creative ripples to settle down and then look at the emerging pattern, which results in the final artwork.
The digital medium is just a tool, what is important for me is the creation of a new pattern, with a new meaning that gives the same vibrant look, which I have in my memory as flashes from that instant or place.
My work is like free flow of questions in a child’s mind, while he sees the world, overwhelmed by the substance around him and at the same time tries to sort out useful matter out of this organised turmoil.
