| Your Personal Biography |
Kiki van der Heiden is a full-time artist. She arrived on the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii) from Amsterdam in 2001. In 2002 she received the Continuing Studies Certificate in Fine Arts Techniques from the Emily Carr Institute of Art.
Her studio is a small round building nestled in hemlock and cedar trees on Robertson Island in Skidegate Inlet. She creates paintings, prints and installations that reflect her response and insight to the ever-changing environment and culture of the islands. Her preffered media is acrylic paint, encaustic (wax) and ink.
Kiki is an active member of the International Miniart Exchange (www.miniartex.org) and has shown her work internationally in the Netherlands, England, Bulgaria, Brazil and Australia. In April of 2005, Kiki had her first solo exhibit in Vancouver.
Her work can be seen on Haida Gwaii at Sitka Studio, in Tlell and Queen B’s gallery in Queen Charlotte. In addition to exhibitions her work can be seen on-line at www.arttea.com
