Artist Statement for Violeta Zivkovska

I believe the reason why I had to develop my interest for stained glass was incompatibility between my previous education as an architect and my employment as computer programmer. Amazed by the beauty of Tiffany lamps, I found myself making reproductions. Although my lamps are exactly reproductions by design, by color they are rather interpretations with my own choice of colors.
Depth in random transparency and extraordinary colors is what I want to see in the glass before cutting it. Using the best available art glass enable me to show excellent quality in my lamps. The process of making is playing with light and fascinating vibrancy of glass which make this medium exceptional. From technical point of view I try to liberate my lamp from imperfections.
The moments when I am working at my lamps are precious moments when I can find peace, adventure, joy and harmony. I honestly hope that people who are looking at my reproductions can feel the same excitement as I do when making it. I would like to express invigorated beauty of nature at my lamps because I believe that beautiful things make this world better.
I am a member of ASGLA - Association of Stained Glass Lamp Artists - www.asgla.com. ”Lamps For All Seasons” is the name of annual juried publication of this association where those my lamps can be seen: Acorn 10” (2003), Waterlilly 20” (2004), Dragonfly 16” (2005), Woodbine 16" (2006) and Clematis 18" (2007).
