Dennis Andrews's Artist Portfolio
Welcome to Dennis Andrews's Portfolio. I am a British artist specialising in naval paintings of a period from the early 20th century to the present day. My portfolio includes artwork commissioned for the book 'HMS Warspite: Ships of the Royal Navy' by Pen & Sword publishing, creating the cover art for this book and its successor in the series, HMS London.
I have also completed a number of naval illustrations for Warships International Fleet Review, a UK-based, monthly naval magazine.
I work mainly in oils on canvas and, sometimes, board. While accuracy is important for me, in my paintings I endeavour to capture the maritime atmosphere, the ship in its element.
I live in the historic naval port of Plymouth and I am the artist-in-residence at HM Naval Base Devonport, the largest military dockyard in Europe. I am currently working on a portfolio of paintings of the Naval Base, which will be presented for viewing later next year (2009).
