Artist Statement for Wayne Brekke

Wayne M. Brekke

Biography / Artist Statement

Born and raised in Santa Maria California, and now living in Omaha Nebraska, Wayne Brekke has been creating art since the age of five. He has kept his love of art alive and well for over 15 years professionally, and has taken many mediums to include: acrylic, watercolor, pencil, pen and ink as well as pastel.

Waynes’ love of color is expressed generously in his acrylic and watercolor paintings. Subject mater for Wayne varies from the abstract, to impressionistic portraits and landscapes.

In late 1999, Wayne focused his artistic talents more seriously, and started painting more and teaching art to students in his own art workshops. He participated in the local Omaha public art exhibit the J. Doe Project, and enjoyed solo shows of his own work.

Today, Wayne is working as an artist in Omaha where he treats his work as a business. He takes commissions, and promotes his art in various media with the sole goal of making art for a living.

“I have always wanted my own business. I don’t like the idea of working for someone
else, so I decided that if I want to be successful, I need to do something I love to do.
Art is what I have done for my entire life, so this is a natural progression for me.”
