Artist Statement for Dominic Koval

All life in the universe vibrates, creating frequencies and harmonics that reverberate throughout the universe. Each planet and system of stars and planets has a different signature according to its status in the evolutionary pattern.

Like children of different ages with different needs, for the most part we remain in the dark regarding the reality of the needs and even the existence of different frequencies. Yet, the most distant may have a connection with the very heart of our own needs and, as like calls to like, we have a yearning written into our dna for those distant connections. It is an evolutionary compulsion. It may not be seen in our lifetimes but merely experienced as harmonies lapping on the shore of our collective heart.

I seek in the interstices, the intersections of light and the dark, the first light of the day and the last, beneath obvious surfaces. I try not to dwell on the shore, but in the ocean wherein lies the treasure. Between being and becoming I live and work, in hopes of catching a glimmer of the ever changing, elusive truth, the infinity in a grain of sand. My awareness reaches to the heart of the universe...but it has to be re-translated every twenty minutes or so.
