Artist Statement:
“Making art always puts me into a certain space, a meditation. I call this ‘being in the flow”. It allows thoughts and feelings to bubble up from the unconscious. I can put that energy into my art. Later, viewing the piece, I can revisit that feeling. It is like reading a poem or hearing a familiar story. It brings you back. It gives pleasure. That’s my hope for anyone viewing my pieces”....

Biggest Artistic Inspiration
Believe it or not, creativity is HARD WORK! It involves
Risk and Sacrifice!
It involves moving beyond our fears, excuses, road blocks, people, (the naysayers) etc..
It involves going deep
inside –
which by the way- scares most of people,
to see what is
really
there.
And to remember to do that!
It involves the ability to put it out there and say "I don't care what others think this is (insert whatever topic, emotion, etc...)
It’s about following your vision.
It’s about all the effort it takes to get it out there, because you must.
It’s about passion.

Why Did You Become An Artist
I make art because I must. Urges to create must be followed.
I have worked in fiber in one form or another for over 30 years.
I explore the edges to see what my chosen medium can do.
I create ALL my fabric. They start out white and I dye, paint, print, digitalize and go mad with color.

Your Personal Biography
My work tends to be biographical. I work out inspirations, insights, feelings and reactions to the outer world. When I work, I allow and encourage a collaborative process with spirit or my higher self- that mind-boggling principle of the universe. This process has also been called ‘flow’. When you are in this state of mind, the intuitive is tapped and the work can become more than the sum of it’s parts.
The nature of my work allows the viewer to see different images within the very same piece, drawing the viewer in. My longtime fascination with photography is finding expression by printing directly onto various natural fibers. I use transparent organza, printed with digital photographs and layered with a duplicate photograph underneath so the viewer sees a holographic 3-D image. My silk organza collages have an added dimension of light. Light flows through the picture and creates different patterns, depending on the angle of the viewer. I apply organza directly using mediums or layer several loose layers creating one image. I dye and surface design all the textiles I use.
I am quite passionate about my work. I continue to explore my chosen medium, fabric, to see what it can do, to stretch its perception as valid art medium
