Epiphany Arts Festival, January 26, 2003
‘Honorable Mention Award’ to Jeff Wesley, for the work: “Gothic Cross”, January 26, 2003.
The Jurors Comments:
Spirituality is illustrated in the awe inspired face of an innocent child, the heavenly gaze of a celestial being, the paradoxical figure of a crucified Christ, and the steadfastness of a wrought metal cross. There is originality and inspiration in this work.
The direction of line, the complexity of color, shape and form, and the artist’s struggle and triumph over the media resulting in various surface textures, reminds each of us of our own personal struggle and victory through faith. (Francis Hull, MFA)
