Artist Statement:
"Live out of your imagination,
not your history." Stephen
Covey said that, and I ask
you... How does imagination
color your life?
Sometimes I feel like Alice in
Wonderland, trying to figure
out what is the sense of
things. It seems that more
and more these days common
sense is being left our of the
decision making process.
Especially when it comes to
our kids and their education.
When the money becomes short
it is the classes that provide
children with the opportunity
to think outside the box that
get cut out... Art, Music,
Dance are all forms of
creative expression and when
you deprive children these
modes of positive outlet to
replace them with more
reading, more math the
children do not experience a
balanced education.
Who said that a child could
not learn math through music?
Music is the most beautiful
expression of Math! Just
listen to any of Bethoven's
sonnatas. Who said that
children can not learn to read
and write through the Visual
Arts? Just ask one of those
young Picasso's fans. A child
can learn to read a person by
learning to read VenMeer's
paintings.
Before there was literature
there was drawing...
