Artist Statement:
I like to work in 2D mainly, I draw as well as paint, I like collage, but I have an appetite for oil paint.
I started drawing accidently in 1987, when I was mainly a performance poet. Since then I have completed a BA Honours in Creative Arts. I didn't paint on my degree, I was encouraged to be conceptual, but when I finished I felt that my first love was texture and colour and I wished to express those emotional moments in our lives that have deep resonance. Layers of life and journey we are all on.
I am an autobiographical artist. I am interested in expressing the very depths of me, very interested in the tensions in relationships, either with myself or with others.
A moment in time, an emotion that I was unable to express any other way than through the arts. I hope to communicate to the inner person within the viewer. To resonate my experiences with theirs, as I believe that we all are ultimately the same, underneath our masks.
