Artist Reviews:
In fact, Hecht takes it one step further, all but dubbing Staring as the savior of contemporary abstract expressionism....Staring’s paintings requiring an interpretive leap is sufficient evidence, in Hecht’s opinion, of Staring’s artistic superhero status...

COMMISSIONED WORK

We have commissioned a very large work of art from him, which completely transformed the feel of our house.
A large, spacious room previously fairly lacking in character, our living room is now bursting with the yellows and turquoises of the ...

WINAND STARING
"Staring on the Road to International Fame?"
Citius – Altius – Fortius Faster – Higher – Stronger
Who´s is the winner? The Olympic athlete throwing the symbolic bike wheel to higher summits, his/her face still veiled in obscurity?
Those are exciting times in Beijing: working 24/7 in getting ready for the Games, and the art world exploding in psychedelic mushroom spaces….
My Mission: to document this unique Chinese period with its economic development from Mao´s footsteps through agricultural reforms and the Cultural Revolution exploding into around the clock building new houses, factories, infrastructure and simultaneously: art. Art embracing Life….
My Tools: gained from rubbish tips, ad hoc forgotten Chinese bicycle, discarded wheels.
Human collaboration: Chinese bare foot, a small march across the canvas, tractors, jeeps and cars.
My Inspiration: huge empty spaces, redolent of past memories, filled with energy, begging to be freed from their centuries old boredom and historic inheritance.
To Explode into the Olympic Flame.
Yes, China is ready and the Games come right on time to culminate the extraordinary history of China.
Now it is the hour to connect the Chinese people to the Olympic Games, walking and dancing, barefoot in the interlocking Olympic rings, connoting wholeness and continuity.
Let´s bring in the bikes, tractors and jeeps.
Hurray for the institutional reforms and massive public investment in roads and key infrastructure, the international airport delivering tourists and professionals alike.
Welcome to the overall economic growth, agricultural and urban development, reduction in poverty.
It all leads up to the Olympic Flame.
Let´s play the Games!
Let´s follow Mao footsteps,
Let´s hail the bike,
Let the tracks from tractor and jeeps enter the arena of the Olympic rings,
Let´s cheer the Olympic Athlete throwing the disc bike wheel high up
his/her glory transcending into the Olympic Bike above in the air where the Chinese Dragon swirls through, spitting fire into the Olympic Fame.
Let´s activate the video machine to record those moments. For a few minutes Let´s play ”Big Art Brother”
Let´s make photos to commemorate the walk, the painting action,
like detailed google-earth prints of the moving shots.
China is getting ready, the Arts already.
