Artist Statement for A. K. Xela

XELA apprenticed to the late French/Israeli artist Yitzhak Parnell in addition to a working education in Florence, London and New York.

Visit his web site at http://www.xelaart.com, and email him at XELA@xelaart.com

Original art and high-quality Giclee reproductions on canvas and paper are available for sale. Licensing inquiries are welcome.

XELA's "new medium" is unusual both in its content and execution. Designed and drawn in an almost sketch form, it is translated and transformed with the aid of computer technology. Shapes and outlines are formed from a rich palette of vinyl material and applied to canvas or board.

The vibrant "happy" colors of an unmixed primary color palette and a lively expression of his art reflect the artist's approach to his subject matter and his constant search for innovative ways for a fresh and timely expression of his art.

The artist became a well known multi-dimensional exhibit-museum designer, specializing in theme exhibits and museums. He has designed more than 50 museum exhibits and a long list of theme exhibitions in the U.S. and overseas.

Throughout his design career, past and present, XELA keeps painting and incorporating his art in many of his projects. In recent years, XELA has devoted a larger portion of his time to practice his art.

His art is recognized by its irreverence, its subtle sense of humor and his love and respect for graphic values as well as his unabashed and confident use of colors. His subject matters deal mainly with his love of the American landscape, yet some also touch upon historical events.

His art is sold to private collectors and to-date, XELA has made no effort to exhibit his art in public exhibitions or be represented by agents.

He works out of his workroom in Roslyn, NY, and a studio in Pennsylvania. He is currently in the process of organizing and consolidating his work in a new studio on Long Island.
