Artist Statement:
My approach to photography has
naturally developed through
years of visual training and
personal curiosity.
My interest in photography
first began as a child, when I
used my
camera on family trips and
summer vacations. Since then
my work has taken on more
meaning and developed a
journalistic approach.
As an undergraduate student at
Washington University in St
Louis I began using
photography as a device for
documenting images and
creating art. As a graphic
design major, I created
photographs to enhance my
designs and supplement my
other artistic interests.
After receiving a BFA in
visual communications I delved
into
photography on a professional
level. I began to use the
camera to document nature and
architecture, and explore
textures and shapes. This
approach created a stark
contrast to my earlier
photojournalistic work and
forced to integrate the two
opposing styles.
Works of both styles have
recently been on display
nation-wide, including various
location such as the
Inspiration Café Art Auction,
Chicago, Il; A Bid for
Stardom, Chicago, Il, Aware,
Urbana, Il, and Graphic Design
and Social Consciousness,
Manhattan, NY.

Welcome to Yasmin Mistry's Portfolio.
My approach to photography has naturally developed through
years of visual training and personal curiosity.
My interest in photography first began as a child, when I used my
camera on family trips and summer vacations. Since then my work has taken on more meaning and developed a journalistic approach.
