Artist Statement for Lois Bajor

THE ELECTRIC IMPRESSIONISM
of
LOIS HEENEY BAJOR

People and the universality of their activities are my usual subject matter. I try to reveal their aura with the use of color and mood. The computer is used as a jumping off place in the sketching and planning phase. Computers have no souls but I believe they can help me to access the vitality at the core of "everyman". Much is revealed with the backlight of the computer screen.

We are all familiar with the Impressionists and their efforts to bring us the illusion of seeing through air and atmosphere by their use of color and stroke. They started a marvelous investigation and I see my work as an extension of their of their experiment..

I have been able to carry Impressionism into another dimension by using computer manipulation in the drafting phase of my painting.

My work travels through and is translated by not only the physical atmosphere, but also by the virtual atmosphere and brilliant vibrations of the computer screen. With this tool I can access a world of magical reality. A world I want to share with my audience.

There is magic in the back lighting of visual images, unfortunately this is lost in machine printing. The final physical interpretation of the image using a traditional medium of oil, pastel or watercolor by this artist, re-renders the image with an added illumination and vibrance. The completed painting belies it’s high tech beginnings

In many cases I can apply my technique to my clients personal photographs for commissioned work. If you would be interested in such a venture or would like to see more of my work please feel free to get in touch.
