"Golden Treasures from the Ancient World"
1999-06-30 until 1999-09-05
Dallas Museum of Art
Dallas, TX,
USA United States of America
In Golden Treasures from the Ancient World, the Dallas Museum of Art joins
two complementary yet distinct exhibitions, one representing one of the
earliest known urban civilizations in the Western world and the other the
flowering of creativity in metalworking in ancient Greek, Etruscan, and
Roman cultures. Both these exhibitions show beautiful examples of fine
work in precious metals that may be traced over a 4,000-year period.
Treasures from the Royal Tombs of Ur and Ancient gold Jewelry from the
Dallas Museum of Art will be on display at the Dallas Museum of Art
between May 30 and September 5. The exhibitions will be installed in
adjacent galleries. One fee of $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior
citizens, and $5 for children under 12 will cover admission to both
exhibitions and will include an Antenna audio guide on compact disc that
describes objects in both exhibitions. Admission is free for DMA members
and free after 5 p.m. Thursdays for the general public. The audio guide is
$4 with free admission.
