Throughout America there are families that have held on to
quilts for generations and cherished them for not their function,
but for their memories they embody. Spirits of the Cloth:
Contemporary Quilts by African American Artists embodies
that ideal and presents the work of over 30 artists working in the
medium of quilting. Made primarily from artists in the
“Women in Color Quilting Network”, Spirits of the Cloth is
committed to the preservation of quiltmaking in the African
American communities. Artists include Michael Cummings, Carolyn Mazloomi, Tina Brewer, Kyra
Hicks and Marie Wilson.
