"New Organization to Promote Digital Art Exhits at Nexus Gallery"

The Center for Digital Art is a new organization formed to increase public
awareness, appreciation and understanding of digital art. The first event
arranged by CDA is a juried exhibition, Digital Art 1999, to be held at
Nexus Gallery, in Gallery II, from August 10 through August 28. All the
work in this exhibition has been created on a computer.
The emphasis of the Center for Digital Art will be on digital fine art,
that is, work that is created on the computer, and then output to be
viewed. This segment of digital artists, who comprise the largest portion
of artists working digitally, are being underserved in the current venues
now available. In addition to providing exhibition opportunities for
digital artists, CDA will have a web site, a registry and produce an annual
catalogue. The web site will host a periodically changing on-line
exhibition. The computerized database and registry will be available for
viewing by curators, scholars, writers, critics, dealers, collectors and
the general public at Nexus Gallery during regular gallery hours, by
appointment.
Simultaneously with Digital Art 1999, Nexus Gallery will be exhibiting its
Third Annual National Juried Exhibition in Gallery I. The opening reception
for both exhibitions will be held on Wednesday, August 11 from 6 to 8 PM.
