"Restoring a Masterpiece: Castiglione Conservation Project"

This exhibition will showcase of the Institute’s ongoing and active conservation
activities with the Upper Midwest Conservation Association (UMCA). Paintings
conservators Joan Gorman and David Marquis will conduct a major conservation
treatment of Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione’s The Immaculate Conception with
Saints Francis of Assisi and Anthony of Padua during public viewing hours. The
working space includes multiple viewing areas to promote interaction between the
public and the conservators. The entrance gallery will include biographical panels on
the artist and commission, several prints from the Institute’s collection, photographs
of preparatory drawings and oil sketches now at Windsor Castle and related works by
Castiglione.
