"Carlos Muñoz-Yagüe: Yves Saint Laurent Behind the Scenes of Haute Couture
"

The Fotografisk Center announces an exhibition of color and black & white photographs by Parisian photographer,
Carlos Muñoz-Yagüe spanning a decade of documentation of the legendary designer, Yves Saint Laurent.
Carlos Muñoz-Yagüe has photographed Yves Saint Laurent at work in his inner sanctum, in both the workshops and in the privacy of his studio. He has discreetly followed every step of the creative process; from Saint Laurent s hand sketching, the fittings with models, the ballet of pins and irons of the seamstresses hands. From the handling of fabrics to the final fittings in the great white salon, the photographer tells the story of how the ultimate expression of feminine elegance has been achieved, two collections yearly for the past 40 years, by one of the greatest masters of high fashion.
The intimacy allowed at this moment is like a gift; I like to reach this level, empowered by the invisibility of photographic coverage, conducted with discernment. At this moment, it is possible to see the anxious face of Yves Saint Laurent and to think that I have just pierced one of the mysteries of his creation. Later, when doing photos in the workshops, I sensed the other part of the mystery hidden behind a life made of gowns and dresses. Work repeated hundreds of times on the workshop tables to attain the perfection of every detail: this moment I found very moving. Why seek to understand this magicNULL Perhaps to better capture it and therefore pierce a secret, that of an idealised woman.
