The Artists Magazine, Americas leading magazine for artists, has issued a
Call for Entries for its 2000 Art Competition. The 17th annual Competition
will recognize more than 250 finalists and award 45 major prizes amounting
to more than $16,000.00 cash.
The Competition is open to both amateur and professional artists. Artists
may enter work in five categories: Portrait, Landscape, Still Life,
Experimental and Animal Art. First-, second- and third-place winners
selected from each category will receive $1,500, $750 and $500 respectively.
Fifteen honorable mentions will receive $100 each. Top Award Winners and
Honorable Mentions will be featured in the December 2000 issue of The Artist
s Magazine. In addition, 12 finalists will be featured as Artist of the
Month throughout the magazines 2001 issues and 12 award winners will be
featured in The Artists Magazines 2001 Calendar. A select number of
winning entries will also be featured on The Artists Magazine Web site.
Entries are also being accepted in the Student/Beginner division, which is
open to artists who have been painting for 2 years or less. First-, second-
and third-place winners selected from each category will receive $100, $75,
and $50 respectively, plus a 1-year subscription to The Artists Magazine.
In addition, award winners in the Student/Beginner division will be featured
in the magazines January 2001 issue.
Entries must be 35mm slides of original, unpublished art conceived and
created by the entrant. Entries will be judged on concept, composition,
draftsmanship, and adroit medium handling. Each genre also has its own
criteria. Entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2000, and be accompanied by
$10 (per slide) entry fee. For rules and entry form, send a self-addressed
