"Kupka - Waldes, The Artist And His
Collector"

The exhibition will present works by Frank Kupka from the Jindrich
Waldes Collection, just recently returned to original owners after
decades of confiscation and nationalization. Kupka is one of the
founders of abstract art and a prominent name in the Waldes Collection.
Works by Kupka are owned by leading international galleries and museums
of modern art, prices of his paintings reach high six figures on
international markets and are still rising.
The Kupka - Waldes exhibition features 24 oil paintings and over 120
smaller works, including illustrations, caricatures, sketches, drawings
and a bust of Kupka's wife. Highlights of the exhibition include Cosmic
Spring and Winter Reminiscence paintings, as well as the complete cycle
Song of Songs.
Press conference guests will include Jiri Waldes, Petr Meissner and
Ludmila Vachtova who will discuss issues concerning the Waldes
Collection. Mr. Waldes is a representative of the heirs and son of
Jindøich Waldes. Mr. Meissner is a Czech antiques and art dealer and has
represented the heirs to the Waldes Collection in the Czech Republic for
the past four years. Ms. Vachtova, an art critic and a writer, is one of
the world's most knowledgeable experts on the work of Frantisek Kupka, a
prominent name in both the Waldes collection and in modern art.
