"Call for 2000 fnb vita art prize nominations"
0000-00-00 until 0000-00-00
Sandton Civic Gallery
Johannesburg, , ZA South Africa

The 2000 FNB Vita Art Prize public nomination year is drawing to a close. This exciting, often controversial competition, held in collaboration with the Sandton Civic Gallery was introduced in 1996 in response to the need for acknowledgment of cutting edge, South African contemporary art.

Up to six artists will be chosen by a panel of judges as well as through the public votes, each of whom will receive R8000 towards producing work for a group exhibition to be held at the Sandton Civic Gallery, Johannesburg from July 25 - August 26, 2000. One overall winner will be chosen from these works to receive the grand prize totaling R30 000.

Members of the public are invited to nominate any artist countrywide, whose work has been exhibited in a recognised gallery between January and December 1999. Simply complete the nomination form, available in all participating galleries and return postage paid to FNB Vita Awards.

Remember, the closing date for public nominations for the FNB Vita Art Prize is January 31st 2000.
