Business as Usual is an exhibition that deals with domestic violence, sexual perversions, the abuse of children and religious coercion. While child abuse is horrifying and enraging, forced religious practice is no less shocking.
Severe social problems are a daily reality in Israel. They are cloak and dagger activities, taking place under the cover of Business as Usual. Every now and then we are shocked into awareness and horrified by headlines, yet sink back into the convenience of
ignorance once the news dies down.
Business as Usual is a multimedia exhibition, combining a wide range of art forms. Life size three-dimensional figures created with
various plastic mediums interact with two-dimensional artworks that blend painting with computer generated images. Classic animation,
video and music are integrated to create an engulfing experience.
The grotesque, caricature-like figures create direct eye-to-eye contact with the viewer. This art at eye level, coupled with an
encompassing atmosphere, arouses the observer to contemplation and immediate response.
Although the social issues dealt with do not stem from personal experience, I try through my art to express my distress about our brutal
social reality. Each work on exhibition reflects one aspect of this reality.
