"Sa Schloff: Portrait Gallery"
2000-03-11 until 2000-05-05
Portland Museum of Art
Portland, ME,
USA United States of America
Portrait Gallery is a unique contemporary art project consisting of three parts created by Maine artist Sa Schloff. Part one of the installation features 12 photographs that investigates the
nature of photographic portraiture and how we read identity, personality, and history into images. Part two addresses the commercial use of images and the changes this produces in our
interaction with visual works of art. Various products--books, pins, postcards and posters, among other things--bearing images from the exhibition will be available in the Museum
Shop which is adjacent to the exhibition gallery. Part three is a public art project consisting of banners installed outside of the Museum on Free Street which will be on view from March
11 through May 20.
