The Millenium Forum is one of the preparing acts for the UN General
Millenium Assembly that will be held in autumn this year. The aim is to collect ideas and proposals from
the non-governmental organizations (NGO's), in order to participate in the definition of a vision of the
future and an organizing structure that allows for the effective participation of the civil society in the
worldwide decisions.
Forum Barcelona 2004 has created a virtual space for the debate about Cultural Diversity and Globalisation
in the Millenium Forum that will be moderated and coordinated by ANUE, The Association of the
United Nations in Spain, that has elaborated a document together with an outstanding group of international experts. This text is meant to be an
instrument for debate and work for one of the 36 discussions in the Millenium Forum, Culture.

The platform in the Forum Barcelona 2004 allows for anyone to take part in the process of defining the
priorities of the United Nations. ANUE, the Association of the United Nations in Spain,with the collaboration of Forum Barcelona 2004 will take care of the Culture
area. The debate about cultural diversity is open to everyone on the mailing list at the ANUE-Millenium

The Millenium forum will take place in New York between 22nd and 26th May 2000 and will be divided into
36 subject areas. The Forum will gather members of the civil society from all over the world to discuss the challenges that the
United Nations face during the 21st Century. The main issues are Peace, security and Disarmament; The eradication of poverty,
Human rights; Sustainable development; Facing the challenge of globalisation; Reinforcement and democratisation of the United Nations and
international organisations.
