"ANN SHELTON: THE STRIP"
2000-05-11 until 2000-06-30
EXPERIMENTAL ART FOUNDATION
Adelaide, ,
AU Australia
Ann has documented aspects of the social environment of Aucklands
Karangahape Road for the past several years. Her book REDEYE was a closeup
view of her social milieu, the series Abigails Party documented the lush
interiors of the places in which she and her friends lived.
THE STRIP is a new installation work that incorporates aerial photography,
lightboxes and a field of classic 1960s carpet to present a different
conceptual take on urban space.
The exhibition is accompanied by a spunky die-cut catalogue with an essay
by Chris Chapman.
Ann Shelton currently lectures in photography at Manukau School of Art and
Design, Auckland. She has exhibited in New Zealand, Scotland and Japan and
her work was recently shown at the Australian Centre for Photography in
Sydney.
