"Jean-Baptiste Greuze"
2000-06-14 until 2000-09-17
Statens Museum of Art, Denmark's National Gallery
Copenhagen, ,
DK
Jean-Baptiste Greuze is an excellent exponent of the narrative revolutionary
painting in France. His paintings are both very sentimental and moral. The
exhibition focuses on the painting The Paralysed from the Hermitage Museum
in Saint Petersburg.
A few years ago Statens Museum for Kunst acquired a
portrait study of this painting. The exhibition will shed light on the history and
creation of the painting with the help of further 10 preliminary drawings borrowed
from the Hermitage Museum.
