DesigNation®, the Organization of Black Designers Multidiscipline & Multicultural Design Conference announces its fourth National Conference - DesigNation3: DesignMinds - October 2000, Los Angeles. The International Design
Conference is expected to attract 1,800 attendees and a variety corporate exhibitors. Bringing together Product, Advertising, Graphic, Broadcast, Fashion, NewMedia, Multimedia, Interior, and Architectural, designers from all over the Globe. The DesigNation® conference is tremendous! says Barbara Cohen, a San
Francisco based architect. It is amazing to meet so many different design
professionalsBlack, White, Red, YellowHispanic, European, Brazilian,
Canadian, African and Asian designers will be there. Automobile designers,
Fashion designers, Advertising art directors and Graphic designers and yes
other Architects; people you might never meet at any other conference. The
synergy is unbelievable.
DesigNation3: DesignMinds will showcase the work of some of the most exciting
and talented designers in the world. The conference will focus on the design
processthe how and the why of what designers do. It will explore the work and
ideas of the new design culture, its mind set and the new tools being used to
create the design reality of the next millennium.
From automobiles, apparel, printed and electronic media, to advertising,
product and environmental design DesigNation3: DesignMinds will delve into
the design psyche to give us a better understanding of what we designers do
in order to enable us to do it better and more appropriately, says industrial
designer David Rice. By fully understanding where we are, we will be more
capable of determining where we should be going, and most importantly, how to
get there.
Corporate exhibitors are encouraged to create exhibits that will explain and
show the process of design. From initial concept sketches, to models or
prototypes to the final production of the product whether it be two
dimensional, three dimensional or electronic in its finished state.
This conference will challenge conventional thinking about design and its
relationship to business, work, and lifestyle choices, asserts Shauna
Stallworth, director of programming for the conference. We will be bringing
in top designers from all overDetroit, Silicon Valley, Seventh Avenue,
Hollywood, Madison Avenue, Europe, Africa and Asia to present their work
