2000-09-19 until 2001-01-07
Metropolitan Museum of Art
New York, NY,
USA
This landmark exhibition explores the history of
American art between 1825, when the Erie Canal
was completed, and 1861, when the Civil War began,
through works created in and for New York City. On
view are more than 300 objects—paintings,
sculpture, photography, prints, maps and
architectural drawings, decorative arts, and
costumes—from American and European collections,
as well as from the Metropolitan's holdings.
The exhibition and student pass program are made
possible by Fleet. The exhibition catalogue is made
possible through the support of the William Cullen
Bryant Fellows.
