VIPER presents films, videos, CD-ROMs and Internet work done by artists
on a current and international level. VIPER promotes the work with and use
of new technologies and offers a platform for analogue and digital visual
media. VIPER counts among the most important events in Europe in the
field of new audiovisual artwork and is the most important Media art
festival in Switzerland. VIPER initiates cooperations with regional, national
as well as international partners and seeks interactive linking-up.
Special performance events for the VIPER 20 include a multi-media
presentation by Pablo Helguera [Mexico/USA] of his multinational
corporation *Everythingness.* An intertwining of fiction and facts,
history and an imaginary vision of the future, in *Everythingness* time
is treated as a commodity and speed as an instrument of power. (Opening
Night, Wednesday, October 25, 2000).
VIPER breaks new ground for new forms of visual expression. It's the only
festival of its kind in Switzerland showing the latest innovative and
experimental work in film and video as well as what's new in artistic
expression in the new media. The main aim is the promotion of innovative
art in the analogue and digital creation of pictures.
VIPER initiates action. Since its founding in 1980, the Festival has been an
open and interdisciplinary event. It presents films, videos, media art,
multimedia creations, installations and performances always with an eye
on interlinking andgroundbreaking artistic strategies involving a mix of
media.
