Indepth Arts News:
"SECA Art Award"
2001-02-02 until 2001-06-30
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
San Francisco, CA,
USA
This year, the biennial Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art (SECA)
Art Award honors Rachael Neubauer and Kathryn Van Dyke, two regional artists of
exceptional promise.
The San Francisco-based Neubauer creates sculptural objects
that are caught in the act of morphing between body and product, nature and prop.
Van Dyke's work demonstrates a concern with how poetic elements can strip
preparedness away and set the imagination in motion balanced with an interest in
the process of painting and the presentation of overwhelmingly beautiful objects.
