"Madeleine Challender: Light Forms"
2001-02-16 until 2001-02-25
Canberra Contemporary Art Space
Braddon, AC,
AU
Using various techniques to create refractions and reflections of light through perspex
and liquid, Madeleine Challender addresses notions of systems, structures and
processes active in the world, our minds and the universe. This work engages ideas
developed through ChallenderŐs ongoing investigation of the dynamics of light and
the scientific and philosophical nature of energy.
Madele Challender is an emerging artist working in the medium of light. She began
creating light installations in 1998 when she spent six months at L'ecole des Beaux
Arts Paris. In 1999 she was invited by the ACT Festival of Contemporary Arts to
coordinate a group exhibition Red in Flux. Since graduating with Honours from the
Canberra School of Art, Challender has created an installation for the Gorman House
Arts market and coordinated an exhibition around the idea of light, Lumiere- a Light
Show.
This is her first solo exhibition in Canberra.
