Pittsburgh, PA,
USA
Adrian Piper, the 52-year-old American multi-media artist,
known for her confrontational work dealing with subjects as
discomforting as personal bigotry and xenophobia, will create
a new site-specific project for The Andy Warhol Museum.
Along with her special project,
The Warhol will have the
opportunity to present a traveling retrospective of Piper's work
organized by Maurice Berger, Adjunct Curator of the Fine Arts
Gallery, University of Maryland, as well as an essential video,
sound, and performance component organized by
Independent Curator Dara Meyers-Kingsley. Funding has
been provided by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a
state agency. Additional support has been provided by
Lannan Foundation, Santa Fe, and the Multi-Cultural Arts
Initiative, which is jointly funded by The Pittsburgh Foundation
and Howard Heinz Endowment.
